Day 20 in Buin- "The Big 3"

Another great week, super fun! 

Our investigators here in Buin are basically all from Haiti, and the huge challenge for a lot of them is that they live with their girlfriend or boyfriend. So it is really hard for them to get baptized. So we are trying to get a couple weddings set up very soon.. 

The biggest thing that I have learned so far teaching here is, help the investigator understand the importance of prayer, reading the Book of Mormon, and going to church. Because those three things, they have to do for themselves, when I´m not there to hold their hand. So, my companion and I came up with a lesson specifically focused on just those three things. The lesson is called, ´´The Big Three¨. Named after the old Big 3 in the NBA, when LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh were all playing for Miami. 

The investigator needs to understand the importance of those three things, because more times than not, they will have a desire to do those things once they understand the importance. And once they do those things sincerely, they gain a testimony!! Then they get baptized, and have a great foundation. Those three things are super simple, and fundamental. They need them to progress in the Gospel. The lesson is only on those three things, answering every doubt, or question they have. Explaining the importance very clearly and directly, with doctrine to back it up, giving the investigator another source, not just from the mouth of a 19 year old white kid. 

So far, it has been super helpful with helping our investigators keep their commitments, and I am seeing a true light, and testimony forming in their lives!!
